Travelling alone and want to try the wines?

Took this tour on Sunday 26th May to the Saint Emilion region and two excellent Chateau's with Bordeaux Top Growth. Efficient pick up from the Tourist Information, some good historical background provided by the great tour guide all from the comfort of a minibus allowing me to focus on wine tasting and enjoying the spectacular countryside views rather than driving.

Excellent day and wines!!

Amazing visits to Chateau Coutet and Chateau du Tertre, as well as to Saint Emillion. Excellent very kind guide! Thanks
A nice experience, but a bit expensive...
Holger Löttgen 01/17/2020
This whole day trip to 2 vineyards and a short (1 hour) stay in St. Emilion was overall a nice experience... as this is done in a small group (we were 3 people) this is a good way to learn about vine and ask questions to the people that welcome you at the 2 vineyards. They know what they are talking about and it was fun to listen and to see the whole process of making / storing wine. The wine tasting was good as well in both locations with details about the wine we were about to taste... In the middle of the trip we had lunch in a restaurant... it was ok, but nothing more... not really delicious and no love in the cooking :-) Actually i expected a bit more... The driver we had was nice and friendly, gave some background information about wine in general, different terroirs, appelation etc... All in all it was a good day, but quite expensive for what i got... actually most of the vineyards offer winetasting if you go there, and its for free... just for having a ride there and the spare meal, the price is quite high...
Overly expensive, not to be recommended
Patrick C 03/16/2019
Too expensive for what we received. Visited two chateaus. First chateau we were given two tastes of wine. This tour would normally cost ¤10 on the chateau website. For lunch we were brought to a small restaurant that was very out of the way from the Saint Emilion village. There were mo vegetarian options even though this was advised in the morning. We received boiled rice and fried potatoes. We expected better for a tour which costs ¤150 per person. The guides were excellent however their good humour and knowledge unfortunately did not balance how overpriced the tour was. I would not use this company again and I would not recommend this tour to a friend.

Answer from The Bordeaux Top Growth Team

Answer from the organiser : Dear Patrick,Thank you very much for your feedback regarding your tour last Saturday, we have read it carrefully. We are deeply sorry and surprised by the content of your comment. We are always looking for improvements of our services, so we take your message very seriously and with great care. Please note that for our regular clients, we have negociated with the restaurant a single and unique typical menu of the region composed of 3 courses, 1 glass of wine and the coffee. The restaurant has been able to adapt at best to offer you a special menu suitable for vegetarians. It appears that you did not like it, and we do apologise about that. Indeed, you should have mentioned your food preferences at the booking, well before the D-day. We will be very careful about that in the future. Also, may I kindly remind you that the price you have paid for this wine tour (149¤) includes not only the catering, but also the 2 visits/tastings, as well as the transportation with Romane, the driver/guide.I wish you a pleasant day. Best regards,The Bordeaux Top Growth Team
Chateaux Jean Nouvel
Jojo 02/09/2019
I suggest your guides at least mention the chateux that have been re-designed by Jean Nouvel: Cheval Blanc, Dominique and Grace Dieu des Prieurs. it would be very interesting to have the opportunity to tour these chateaux, which seem to be within walking distance of each other, and learn about grand cru classe wine quality, technology used and design.

Answer from Visiter Bordeaux

Dear Jojo, You can not visit these wines châteaux because they are open only to wine professionals. By cons I tell guides to mention in the future the name of these wine chateaux. Cordially
