Saint-Emilion needs no introduction: its well-balanced wines, its steep medieval streets, its legends... Undoubtedly one of the most beautiful villages in France.

  • Private tour of the underground monuments (subject to availability, otherwise public visit)
  • Guided-tour of the village with entrance to the King's Tower or the Bell Tower
  • Visit of an organic winery and wines tasting
  • Lunch included in a local food restaurant (vegetarian friendly) : starter/main or main/dessert + coffee/tea
  • Comments in English and French
  • Green tourist agency

8.20 am: meeting in front of the Bordeaux tourist office. Your guide will welcome you and present the day's programme.

8:30 am: departure.

In the morning, we will visit the underground monuments of Saint-Emilion and its incredible monolithic church from the Middle Ages: a masterpiece of architecture.

Then your guide will introduce you to the village of Saint-Emilion and lead you through its narrow streets, squares and main monuments. A digest of medieval history in one of the most beautiful villages in France!

We will then have lunch in a local restaurant: a fresh menu made of local and seasonal products.

Then we will go to an organic winery. The winemaker will tell you about the environmental approach, the land and will show you the cellars, before a wine tasting (2 wines).

We will finish the day with several stops around Saint-Emilion: panorama, places and unusual objects will be there!

5:30 pm: return to Bordeaux.

Wineries partners : Coutet, Fonroque, Bernateau, Jean Faure...

Depending on local requirements, the programme may be modified.

Vert Bordeaux is a tourist agency commited to local and sustainable tourism. Vert Bordeaux integrates the principles of sustainable tourism into its strategic management and the offers it makes.

This translates into internal commitments (ethical banking, eco-designed website, second-hand equipment, printing on recycled paper with vegetable-based inks) and in the design of tours and day trips (local food restaurant, organic winery, no single-use plastic, awareness of local environmental issues) in order to reduce the impact of tourism in Bordeaux and Gironde.

Fantastic Day Out
Corrigan Sandra 08/18/2022
My husband and I went on this day trip last week. Booking online was straightforward and on the day we met with our guide Emannuel and the two other couples who would join us outside the tourist office. Emannuel was a great guide, friendly, relaxed, knowledgeable, he conducted the tour easily in both English and French as we had both French and English speakers with us. It was lovely to be able to practice listening to French and to ask any questions we wanted. The transport was spacious and comfortable, with Emannuel being very careful to make sure that we were cool enough and not in the sun for too long on a very hot summer's day. This day trip is a great mix of history, told honestly with interest, and wine tasting. The village of Saint Emillion is stunning. I particularly enjoyed our private tour of the underground monolithic Cathedral. Dinner was delicious, unhurried and in a lovely local establishment. The vineyard, a family run, organic affair was well run, welcoming, and gave us delicious wines to taste. On the way home we even stopped to look at a local Menhir. All in all it was a highlight of our trip to Bordeaux and we would thoroughly recommend it.
