Ready to explore the finest wines of Bordeaux's right bank? This Saint-Emilion and Pomerol wine tour takes you deep into the heart of Merlot country — two legendary appellations, three unforgettable stops, and a small group of no more than 9 guests.

2:20 PM – Your English-speaking guide meets you in front of La Cité du Vin, welcomes the group, and previews the afternoon ahead.

2:30 PM – Departure for your Right Bank Bordeaux tour. On the road, your guide will bring the region to life — the history of Saint-Emilion and Pomerol, their UNESCO-listed vineyard landscapes, the châteaux that have shaped their reputations, and the role of Merlot in crafting some of the world's most sought-after wines.

  • First stop — Pomerol. Your Pomerol vineyard tour begins at a prestigious biodynamic estate, where farming philosophy is as refined as the wines themselves. Your guide will walk you through the vineyard management and the key stages of winemaking, before you explore the fermentation cellar and barrel aging room. The visit ends with a tasting of 3 red wines from the estate — a perfect introduction to what makes Pomerol so singular and so coveted.

  • Second stop — Saint-Emilion Grand Cru Classé. This premium Bordeaux wine tour continues at a classified Saint-Emilion estate, where after a introduction to the château's history and terroir, you'll taste 4 red wines spanning different vintages. It's a rare opportunity to see firsthand how the climate shapes each harvest — and to draw your own conclusions about the differences between Pomerol and Saint-Emilion, side by side.

  • Third stop — the village of Saint-Emilion. The afternoon closes with a guided walk through one of the most beautiful medieval villages in the region. Your guide will unravel its layered history — a story woven from wine trade, the pilgrimage route to Santiago de Compostela, and centuries of limestone quarrying, whose underground galleries now serve as natural wine cellars. The perfect ending? A taste of the famous Saint-Emilion macarons — a sweet finale to an afternoon of exceptional wines.

Around 6:45 PM – Time to head back to Bordeaux. On the return journey, your guide will share their favourite addresses in the city — restaurants, wine bars, and cellar doors worth seeking out.

7:30 PM – Return to Bordeaux (± 5 min.).

Book your Saint-Emilion and Pomerol day trip from Bordeaux today. With just 8 spots per departure, this Merlot Bordeaux wine tour sells out fast — don't miss your place on the Right Bank.

Wonderful afternoon in St Emilion/Pomerol
Alistair Smith 09/15/2025
Ludmilla was our guide for this afternoon visit to two wonderful estates in mid August. Ch. Mazeyres in Pomerol which was biodynamic (fascinating processes) & Ch. Cadet-Bon, a St.Émilion Grand Cru Classé (and Organic). Wines were superb as expected but it was the level of detail & insight within the tours that made it special for us as opposed to many 'routine' wine estate visits that are widely available on the market. Ludmilla is such a natural host but we have met all the team at Vert Bordeaux over the last 3 years in Bordeaux and understand the passion that runs through the people and the business. To be honest, we wouldn't use any other company as we have total confidence in the quality of the experience. Warmest thanks again Ludmilla for a wonderful afternoon. We will be back.

Emmanuel, our guide, was very knowledgeable, kind, and flexible. I developed a newfound understanding of French wine categorization and a deeper appreciation of the wine-making process overall. I would highly recommend this tour if this is your first foray into Bordeaux wine.
