Olala Bordeaux

I live in the USA and when looking online there were so many tours to choose from and so many reviews, the number of tours and offers were overwhelming. I was expecting to stay in Bordeaux for 4 days and after my initial research it was clear that I needed to define what I wanted from the tour. So I decided I would just do one tour and it would be a full day. Then I figured that I should concentrate in one region and not try “to do Bordeaux”. The write-ups and reports of St Emillion captured my attention and I decided to just take one wine tour but make it an all day tour and in one region so I am not wasting time traveling form one place to another… some tours offered left and right bank in the same day, which I thought would waste valuable relaxing/vacation time. Another consideration was that I did not want to be cramming in the tastings or start drinking wine immediately after my breakfast! This particular tour first visited the village and then tastings did not start until close to noon and of course just before lunch. So this became the perfect day with the perfect host, Hugo. He was knowledgeable and very sensitive to the needs of his tour guests. The wines we tried were awesome and all the producers were very amiable and of course knowledgeable about their own products, as was Hugo. There was certainly no snobbery just a group of people visiting Chateaux and enjoying delicious wine. I highly recommend this company and this particular tour if you want to take in great scenery, taste delicious wine and relax, eating local cuisine which was provided as part of the tour.

This tour is on the expensive side compared to some others but well worth it. 3 smaller producers, family owned estates, includes lunch and a guided tour around Saint-Emilion with an English speaking guide for the day. Small group was great without having to manage too many numbers. Highlight of the day was a wine tasting with Tristan under the trees in the country side, just beautiful. We had 8 adults squeezed into a small minivan that had a high level of ambient noise as well as poor shock absorbers, this made it difficult to hear our guide (he did not wear a microphone), those of us in the third row felt every speed bump (my coccyx bone has a bruise due to all the bumps), and there was very little space between me and the stranger next to me. The towns and wineries we visited were really lovely but most of the time we could not hear the guide’s commentary due to the vehicle noise (this was particularly true in the third row of seats.) At the stops, when we could hear the guide, he was very knowledgeable and informative. The wine tasting stops were also great fun and most of the wines were excellent in quality. However, I would not recommend this tour to anyone due to the transport issue, it was quite bad.

Fantastic! Great tour of a family vineyard. Super tastings. Learned loads of history and techniques. Would definitely recommend. Learned and tasted the difference between St Emillion and Bordeaux. Had my 2 sons with me, they are still raving about it.

The wine tour couldn’t have been better. Wonderful chateau hosts with deep passion of wine and knowledge of the various grapes growing in the region. The small group and excellent driver Florian was right on. Saint Emilion was spectacular. Would have liked to had some photo stops in the spectacular countryside. I highly recommend this tour. I would definitely recommend this tour, the guide was very knowledgeable and professional and the places we visited and the quality of the wines were great.
