Bordeaux walking tour

From 13€ / pers

Discover the historic city centre with a knowledgeable guide. This 2 hour guided walking tour includes some of the city’s most remarkable 18th century architecture, as well as the highlights of the UNESCO World Heritage area.

  • Walking guided tour
  • Heritage and architecture
  • The old district
  • Rich historical background

Discovering Bordeaux on foot is the best way to experience the city’s diversity. The ‘City of The Lumières’, drawn up with a compass by 18th century architects and town planners, is synonymous with harmony: hôtels particuliers, beautiful squares and avenues are spread all along this route that takes you through picturesque areas like Saint Rémi and Saint Pierre quarters.

Some of the winding streetshave not changed since the Middle Ages. “Blondstone” is present everywhere, including in the sculpted faces that sit atop the city centre doorways, the mascarons. These stand as remarkable examples of art and masonry.

Well worth taking this trip - guide is an absolute star!
Sarah Edwards 08/21/2026
Bordeaux is a wonderful city. We contemplated taking a free tour but so pleased we booked this tour through the tourist office. Bruno, our guide, was excellent - he’s very distinguished, very engaging, very informative and seems to know everyone! We certainly found out far more than if we’d walked around on our own e.g. We were shown the Utopia cinema/cafe where we later revisited for an excellent lunch. We would never have known about it without the tour. Thank you Bruno!

Bilingual tour
Jennifer Walton 07/19/2026
We found the bilingual tour problematic because there was more attention provided to the French participants than English. I think because it was a bilingual tour it was much harder for everyone to follow along. In future I would book a tour that was only in one language.

Answer from Office de Tourisme et des Congrès de Bordeaux Métropole

Dear Jennifer, we thank you for your feedback. We are aware that tours in a single language offer a more confortable experience to ours visitors and guides, we naturally organise them whenever we can. However it is not always possible, and to make them accessible to most people, we offer bilingual visits. We forward your comments to our guided tours department and hope that despite this aspect, you appreciated the contents of our tour. Best regards The Bordeaux tourist office team

Great historical introduction to Bordeaux
Jenny Fulle 07/09/2026
Our tour guide (I’m sorry but I’ve forgotten his name) was very knowledgeable and approachable. There is so much fascinating history in Bordeaux and he gave a great introduction.
