Guided tour

Bordeaux walking tour

From 13€ / pers

Discover the historic city centre with a knowledgeable guide. This 2 hour guided walking tour includes some of the city’s most remarkable 18th century architecture, as well as the highlights of the UNESCO World Heritage area.

  • guided tour
  • old district
  • main sights

Discovering Bordeaux on foot is the best way to experience the city’s diversity. The ‘City of The Lumières’, drawn up with a compass by 18th century architects and town planners, is synonymous with harmony: hôtels particuliers, beautiful squares and avenues are spread all along this route that takes you through picturesque areas like Saint Rémi and Saint Pierre quarters.

Some of the winding streetshave not changed since the Middle Ages. “Blondstone” is present everywhere, including in the sculpted faces that sit atop the city centre doorways, the mascarons. These stand as remarkable examples of art and masonry.

This was an enjoyable way to get a quick background and understand the history snd layout of the city. From here went off on our own to enjoy lunch and explore further

Very disappointing
Richard Hodgkiss 05/01/2025
We were at the starting point (outside tourist office) in good time but the guide had already departed without us! With the help of the tourist office staff we were able to track the guide and group down, but we were offered no apology or explanation. The guide was very dismissive towards us and all other English speaking participants and we had the distinct impression that he was imparting more information to the French speakers than to the English speakers. We were also aware that he made reference to 'Les Anglais' when he was speaking to the French speakers and that whatever he said made them laugh. Whilst the guide had the demeanour of a French 'Mr Bean' he did not make us laugh, nor did we feel very enlightened by the small amount of information he was able to impart. Generally, the guide placed too much focus on the old buildings to the detriment of other topics such as culture and what makes the contemporary Bordeaux 'tick'. More importantly, he failed to convey his own enthusiasm for, or even interest in, Bordeaux.

Answer from Mr. l'Office de Tourisme et des Congrès de Bordeaux Métropole

Dear Richard, It is with regret that we read your review. We have noticed your feedback about the visit and thank you for it. In a quality concern, we sent your impressions to the guide to improve the quality of this tour in the future. We hope that you enjoyed your time in Bordeaux anyway and looking forward to welcome you again. Best regards. Bordeaux Tourist Office team

Awesome tour with Brigitte!
Shelby Eames 04/03/2025
My guide Brigitte was spectacular! Extremely knowledgable and well qualified, with years of experience. She also had many wonderful local tips as she had been living in the Bordeaux region for many years.
