Too short for what is planned
Diane Jamieson 09/18/2026
The ciait was far too rushed. We left at 1:45 and we were hurried through the monolithic church. Some people didn’t even walk down to it because the guide was really rushing us. Then we had 30 minutes to see St Emilion. Way too short! This should be a half day visit in itself. Then we went to the winery and had a great presentation. Two small sips of a wine at the end was not enough. There were not enough seats for everyone and the glasses had not been prepared in advance. Chose the tourism office tour because I thought I wanted to support Bordeaux. Unfortunately, I would not recommend this to others. Take a private tour where you can spend time in St Emilion and have a real wine tasting.

Answer from Monsieur l'Office de Tourisme et des Congrès de Bordeaux Métropole

Good afternoon Diane, Thank you for your feedback, and please accept our apologies for the rushed pace and the issues at the wine‑tasting stop. We are forwarding your comments to the relevant service so they can review the timing in Saint‑Émilion and the organisation of the tasting. Best regards

Amazing Tour in Bordeaux-Highly recommended.

The best tour guide! Bruno was so funny and informative that I could literally picture how life was in Bordeaux over the centuries. With a great sense of humor, Bruno has a unique way to share his passion and love of Bordeaux.

Not recommended. If you want to taste and learn about wine, go to Bar du Vin across from the tourist office. If you want to go to Saint Emilion do a separate tour. We were told we were visiting two wineries for tastings but we only visited one and were only offered two small tastings (so not worth it). The tour guide never explained why we didn’t visit the second winery. The tour of the underground church was too much of a Da Vinci Code style of archeology for me to take seriously, and then we were just left in the town for 45 minutes. The tour was done in English and French which slowed everything down, and I felt sorry for the French speakers because the tour guide occasionally only did a piece in English and then asked them “Did you basically get that?”. The tour guide also never told people where bathrooms were, which I think is a really basic job of a tour guide, particularly as we had several older people on the tour.
