Beautiful experience, guide very engaging
We enjoyed the guided tour very much. We speak italian while the guide english. She was very clear and fascinating even with our little daughter. The theather is wonderful and, to us, every tourist in Bordeaux has to visit it.

Interesting but rushed
Our driver and guide were lovely but think the guide was under time pressure to tell us as much as possible and then repeat in French. On the bus, the two French people would talk loudly to each other when she was speaking in English so we couldn't hear. If she had been talking in English for a while they would demand the French version. When in St Emilion, we were led through a pretty church but didn't stop. We were taken into the underground church, which was very hot and stood in one spot. My back became very painful but there was no where to sit and we couldn't leave as we were locked in (not sure about the health and safety of this arrangement). The guide said we would have free time to explore the town but after being so hot and uncomfortable, we went directly for an ice cream, which we had to gobble down quickly in order to get back to the bus. There was no time to visit anything. We moved onto the vineyard, which was very interesting and informative.

Very Boring
The tour guide was very boring and put many of the guests to sleep on the bus ride, then joked about it. We hit a lot of traffic and missed being able to see the town of St Emillion. Had to rush back to the bus after the chapel. The guide kept asking for more samples of the wine at the tasting and we spent too much time there. The chateau didn’t even have the chateau open and we tasted in a bland room with no AC. We should have spent more time in the village and less time at the winery.

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback about your recent wine tour experience with us. We’re truly sorry to hear that several aspects of the day did not meet your expectations — particularly the guide’s delivery, the time spent at the winery, and the conditions during the tasting. Traffic around Saint-Émilion can unfortunately be unpredictable, especially in peak season, and while we always plan our itineraries to maximize time in the village, delays do sometimes impact the schedule. That said, we take your comments very seriously. We’ve shared your remarks with our guide to review the pacing of the visit, the balance between village time and winery activities, and the comfort of the tasting environment (including air conditioning and venue quality). Our goal is to ensure every guest enjoys a memorable, well-paced experience that highlights both the charm of Saint-Émilion and the quality of our local wines. If you’re open to it, we’d welcome the opportunity to discuss your experience further and learn more about how we can improve. Please feel free to contact us directly at viti.vini@bordeaux-tourisme.com. We hope you’ll consider giving us another chance in the future to show you the very best of Bordeaux and its surrounding vineyards.C
A must do!
Excellent guide with fantastic historical knowledge and photos. Great tour of a fascinating building. Thoroughly enjoyed this opportunity and would highly recommend.

Surprisingly Insightful
I was actually surprised and impressed with the museum components of the Porte Cailhau. Not only was there some very good information on the history and use of the structure, but some wonderful interactive material on the history of the city of Bordeaux and how its layout and borders have changed over time. It really helped to give me a better sense of how everything was connected when exploring the old city. It's also fun to then go up the Flèche Saint-Michel and try to spot all the landmarks in relation to each other.
