Surprisingly Insightful
I was actually surprised and impressed with the museum components of the Porte Cailhau. Not only was there some very good information on the history and use of the structure, but some wonderful interactive material on the history of the city of Bordeaux and how its layout and borders have changed over time. It really helped to give me a better sense of how everything was connected when exploring the old city. It's also fun to then go up the Flèche Saint-Michel and try to spot all the landmarks in relation to each other.

Bilingual tour
We found the bilingual tour problematic because there was more attention provided to the French participants than English. I think because it was a bilingual tour it was much harder for everyone to follow along. In future I would book a tour that was only in one language.

Nice short tour in the Opera!
A nice short tour of the Bordeaux Opera, with an interesting history and beautiful architecture and artwork.

Great historical introduction to Bordeaux
Our tour guide (I’m sorry but I’ve forgotten his name) was very knowledgeable and approachable. There is so much fascinating history in Bordeaux and he gave a great introduction.

Lots about statues, little about the history of Bordeaux
Our guide was knowledgeable but he focused too much on the fountain, the opera statues, the buildings themselves etc. Very little context of the history of Bordeaux using the architecture that survives to tell the story. Bordeaux is a fascinating place but I doubt anyone came away from our walk much the wiser about its place in French and English history. A wasted opportunity.

The tour is interesting but very short
The guide speaks simultaneously in French and English, which means you don’t understand anything for 50% of the time. Besides, the guide was not talking anything while we were walking from one monument to another, so it was not very informative either.
On the other side, the parts that were communicated in English were quite interesting and fun.

Dear Jennifer, we thank you for your feedback. We are aware that tours in a single language offer a more confortable experience to ours visitors and guides, we naturally organise them whenever we can. However it is not always possible, and to make them accessible to most people, we offer bilingual visits. We forward your comments to our guided tours department and hope that despite this aspect, you appreciated the contents of our tour. Best regards The Bordeaux tourist office team
