Great way to learn about Bordeaux
I would thoroughly recommend taking a tour of Port Cailhau. From the outside it is a very pretty photo opportunity, but within they have created a very interesting museum and tour in the renovated medieval gateway to the city. The interactive boards and speaking heads give insights into life through the ages and the views from the windows give a good perspective on the city. Overall great way to locate yourself in time and place in Bordeaux.

Not as fun as anticipated
Joined the tour to Medoc on Saturday and visited two vineyards. The tour was not as in depth as I thought. With explanation in both French and English, we just walked around and tried two wines in both locations.

I liked the fortress. It’s good to combine a sight with a vineyard.
It was interesting to learn about a vineyard which follows strict guidelines around extra- bio wines.
Yes I’d recommend this tour.

We did not enjoy our tour that much. First we had trouble hearing the guide's voice because we went through very big spaces, the guide spoke very softly and fast and the echo made it very hard to follow the explanations. The guide also made lots of jokes that we didn't understand (french is not our first language). Also, the day we scheduled the tour nobody warned us that we wouldn't have been able to really visit the main room where the stage is because of some show rehearsals! We only saw it from behind the windows. What a shame!

Dear Giada, We are sorry to read that you didn't enjoyed your visit to the Grand Théâtre. We have taken your comment into consideration and thank you for it. During the visit to the Grand-Théâtre, we are dependent on the access granted to us. We actually have access to the vestibule, the staircase, the Boireau salon, and a view of the room from a glass-enclosed box. We have adapted the format of the visit by offering a duration of 50 minutes. The main interest is the knowledge of our guides, which allows you to better understand this building. We understand that, this may be disappointing and hope to see you again for another visit. Anyway, we are passing on the message to our staff to be vigilant about explanations of this visit. Best regards, The Bordeaux Tourist Office teamE

Dear Crystal, Thank you for your feedback. We are sorry to hear that this tour was not what you expected. The Châteaux et Terroirs tour is often appreciated as you are accompanied by a professional guide who gives information during the bus journey (in French and English). We also ensure that the visit to the two châteaux is complementary. This makes the tour very good value for money. Please don't hesitate to write to us to tell us in more detail what you would have liked to find out more about, as this will help us to improve our tour. You can also contact us for personalised advice that might better match your expectations. In the hope that we will have the chance to make your experience a better one in the future.
