Fantastic day with excellent guide
Gregory Allen 11/02/2025
We loved our ride from Bordeaux to St Emilion with Edwin. He is very knowledgeable about the history of the area and has great enthusiasm for food, wine and cycling. He is also an excellent cycling guide and we felt very safe riding with him. The ride was beautiful and our lunch was great. The winery we toured in St Emilion was also excellent - the tour was one of the best I’ve had, with a very engaging guide, old and storied property, and great wine. Highlight of our time in Bordeaux!

Answer from Edwin from Gravel Explore

Thank you so much, Gregory, for your wonderful words! It was such a pleasure to share this beautiful ride from Bordeaux to Saint-Émilion with you and Crystal. I’m really happy to hear that you enjoyed the route, the picnic, and the visit at the château, it truly is a special place full of history and passion. I deeply appreciate your kind feedback about the guiding, it means a lot! Wishing you both many more great adventures together, and I hope our paths cross again someday on another ride

Good value whistlestop tour - with wine
Zoe 10/04/2025
I had a lovely day out, joining 2 other people, led by Edwin. He's organised, very friendly, and wants to make sure you have a good day out. The bike was in good condition and yes, they look like they do in the pictures. We were on a 4hr ride from the meet point in the city to nearby vineyard, a really good whistlestop tour. We were the only people at the vineyard, so it felt like a really private tasting. In the end we were out for a lot longer than 4hrs and at no point was Edwin rushing us back. It felt like good value to me because we were such a small group and because of the extra time. From my experience I would recommend Edwin's tours.

Answer from Edwin from Gravel Explore

Thank you so much, Zoe, for taking the time to share your experience! It was such a pleasure having you on the ride and exploring the Bordeaux countryside together. I’m really glad you enjoyed the relaxed pace, the private atmosphere at the vineyard, and the small-group spirit that makes these tours so special. Your words perfectly describe what Gravel Explore is all about: authentic moments, good company, and discovering Bordeaux by bike at your own rhythm. Wishing you all the best on your future adventures ! Warm regards, Edwin

Unforgettable Memories
Kazu T 09/01/2025
It was an amazing, once-in-a-lifetime experience. Cycling on gravel roads kept us safe from dangerous traffic and allowed us to chat comfortably. Our guide was incredibly friendly and clearly explained everything about the grapes and wine, even to those of us who aren't great with words. Another great memory is sharing wine from bike bottles during lunch. Although I thought the fee was a bit steep when I signed up, I'm so glad I went! Highly recommended!

Answer from Edwin from Gravel Explore

Thank you so much, Kazu, for your kind words and for sharing such a wonderful review. It was a real pleasure spending the day with you and your daughter, exploring the beautiful Margaux region together by gravel bike. I’m glad you enjoyed the quiet gravel roads, the landscapes, and the relaxed atmosphere that allowed us to chat and truly experience the spirit of Médoc. And yes, that moment where we shared the bottle of wine by using our bike bottles was so funny ! I’m so happy to know this experience became one of your memorable moments in France, and I’ll be delighted to welcome you again whenever you come back to Bordeaux.

GREAT EXPERIENCE
Guilherme Britto and Manuela 07/01/2025
Our experience was very good. We chose Gravel Explore, as they had the option of a regular bike. We were treated with great care and attention. Edwin showed us important tourist attractions in Bordeaux and explained the route to Saint Emillion, with details of places to go to the bathroom and stops. The picnic selection was delicious, wine, cheese, cold cuts, bread and a sweet treat to finish. I recommend the tour for anyone interested in getting to know the cities and having a more local experience combined with exercise!

Absolutly Fantastic Tour!
adrian hunt 10/07/2025
What an incredible adventure! Our gravel bike tour through Bordeaux was pure joy from start to finish. We explored so many hidden gems along the way — from the fascinating Roman coliseum tucked among homes to a wonderfully welcoming château where we enjoyed an intimate wine tasting. Our guide, Edwin, was absolutely exceptional — full of knowledge about the history, culture, and wines of the region. His passion made every stop feel special. The bikes were top-notch and perfectly maintained, making the ride smooth and comfortable even on the gravel paths. To top it all off, we were treated to a beautiful charcuterie spread to pair with our wine — the perfect touch of French indulgence after a day of exploring! If you’re looking for an active, authentic, and totally fun way to experience Bordeaux, this tour is a must. Can’t recommend it highly enough!
