Discovering Bordeaux on foot is the best way to experience the city’s diversity. The ‘City of The Lumières’, drawn up with a compass by 18th century architects and town planners, is synonymous with harmony: hôtels particuliers, beautiful squares and avenues are spread all along this route that takes you through picturesque areas like Saint Rémi and Saint Pierre quarters.

Some of the winding streetshave not changed since the Middle Ages. “Blondstone” is present everywhere, including in the sculpted faces that sit atop the city centre doorways,the mascarons. These stand as remarkable examples of art and masonry.

It was great. The tour guide was very knowledgeable and could answer all the niche questions adjacent to the subjects raised in the tour. We thoroughly enjoyed this!

Very enjoyable tour

This was a great tour, focused largely on the 18th century and the last 25 years. Our guide had a lot of personality and he knew his history very well. He also had a clear passion for his native city. He was quite funny and good at involving the participants throughout. Everyone in our group had a good time, learned a lot, and saw some important buildings and squares in the city.

Booked English Tour. Got 80% French, 20% English instead.

Tour was insightful and pretty much covered all of the main landmarks of the city. The Tour Guide was friendly and very knowledgeable. However, the tour was not very well organised. The audio was not clear enough and the microphone kept dropping out. Moreover, I specifically booked an English speaking Tour, however it was mostly (70-80%) French speaking and the occasional English translation afterwards. The constant translating definitely added alot more time to the walk. I would recommend if you speak French, but there are better alternatives for just English speakers.
