Perfect tour with a perfect guide (Jerome!)

We had a great half day wine tour. Rodolphe our tour guide was very knowledgeable about the area and everything about wine production, wine tasting and bordeaux wines in general.

Loved the ease of booking and finding the tour starting point. Rodolphe did a great job in being informative and fun at the same time, keeping the 6 people in the group entertained no matter their nationality, level of english and wine knowledge. Still I found it a bit overpriced, something about 60-70s would have been fair.

The travelling to and from Bordeaux took up half the 4 hour tour leaving a short time for everything else. We went to a very small winery, which was no different to many Chateaux available and the wine tasting was at a shop in St Emilion. We tasted 4 wines and chatted a while about the vintages and the make up of the wine. This was the most enjoyable part of the tour and gave a good insight into the wine and the wine maker. At the end of the tasting, we had 40 minutes to explore St Emilion before we returned to Bordeaux. There was some narrative from the guide as we drove to the winery but our time in St Emilion was not guided. All in all, the tour did not have much to merit the high price and most of the cost was taken up by transportation I assume. The winery was OK and there was no real tour of St Emilion itself and I might have been better off taking the train, spent more time in St Emilion and visited the wine shops for tastings for a lot less. I did another wine tour of the area. It was a full day, well structured plus I had 3 tastings and lunch for just a little more money. I cannot recommend this tour when there are better ones available.
