Visiting the Bordeaux Vineyards with Family
Many wineries are ready to welcome you with your children. This kind of outing isn’t just for adults: visiting the Bordeaux vineyards with family can be both fun and educational.
The Bernateau vineyard in playful mode!
Vines are not only for making wine! Grape juice is also widely produced in the region and can be of great interest to children. Château Bernateau in Saint-Émilion is one of those vineyards with an eco-responsible approach, producing a beverage enjoyed by the whole family.
During this visit, children aged 3 to 12 will discover how vines are cultivated and learn about the environmental practices of this vineyard. Through an aroma game, simple explanations, followed by a tasting of organic grape juice, parents and children alike will enjoy exploring this family estate.

Playing at being apprentice vintners at the Cormeil-Figeac vineyard
Château Cormeil-Figeac, near Saint-Émilion, offers a particularly active tour of its estate! Children are invited to dress up as viticulturists. With a basket in hand, they will collect leaves, stones, and seasonal flowers, just like grape harvesters. Then, off to the winery to label the bottles and cap them.
Finally, the little apprentices will learn how to taste grape juice using a spittoon, just like adults! The whole family will appreciate the visit to this four-generation family property, which practices organic farming and agroecology.

Discovering a vineyard as a family via an oenological escape game
Château Pas de l’Ane, located in the heart of the Saint-Emilion Grand Cru vineyards, had the good idea of introducing an oenological escape game. It’s a fun way to visit a vineyard and delight every member of the family! The winemaker, Madame de la Farce, has disappeared… A curse may befall those who do not discover the code in time to free her!
Through puzzles (adapted depending on the age of the participants), you will discover all facets of wine tasting. Sensory riddles will awaken your senses! After an hour of game-playing, a tasting session will allow everyone to properly understand the concepts encountered during the game. While parents enjoy a glass of wine, children will taste syrups and take part in coded games.

The Cité du Vin: Discovering the vineyards of the whole world as a family
Bordeaux is known around the world for its prestigious vineyards. A place dedicated specifically to this universe was needed. That is how La Cité du Vin was born in 2016. Although wine is reserved for adults, this temple of viticulture has adapted to younger audiences. Visiting La Cité du Vin as a family is thus an excellent outing idea in Bordeaux!
Interactive games and sensory animations punctuate the permanent exhibition. For children from the age of 7, a junior trail has been established to tell them the story of wine and its culture in a playful way. Finally, once you reach the Belvedere, the whole family will be able to admire the panorama over Bordeaux. All this with wine tasting for the adults and organic grape juice for the younger ones!
